Habit 1: Start Your Day with Gratitude
There is no doubt the best way to start your day is with gratitude. It helps us focus on the right things. Focusing on positive things changes what we believe and therefore what we think.
Not on negative things that bring us down. But the positive things that pull us up.Our thoughts affect our feelings. We act on what we feel. Our actions create our results.
Activity: Write down 3 things you’re grateful for every morning.
Habit 2: Set Daily Intentions or Goals
Nothing great just happens. Anything that is worthwhile has been planned or envisioned. The daily habit of doing this is a key to life-changing success. In my book, Double your productivity in 31 days, I share the idea of starting your day from the night before.
Doing clear direction for how you want the day to go. Once you start your day you will benefit from having that game plan. Additionally, this will help you to overcome any obstacles that comes your way during the day.
Activity: Take 5 minutes each morning to outline your priorities.
Habit 3: Practice Mindfulness or Meditation
Starting the day off with a clear head is a powerful resource. As a Christian minister, my go-to is prayer. Other people meditate to declutter the mind of their crazy thoughts. I believe that I created wants to Champion every single day with us.
There is no doubt in my mind that he created us for nothing less. Sometimes phone calls to other humans or people in our lives can weigh us down more than they lift us up. However, when you talk to your Creator, there is nothing but good vibes.
Activity: Spend 10–15 minutes praying, meditating to reduce stress and improve focus.
Habit 4: Move Your Body Daily
For those of us seeking convenience, people who work out seem to have some kind of weird bug loose in their minds. Why in the world would you skip sleeping or chilling to go put your mind and body under stress, intentionally?
Well, I can tell you that physical exercise engages the body and mind in a way that energizes you afterward. If you can get over almost dying, you feel the most alive. That doesn’t mean that exercising is easy to do.
I think we’re always going to have to fight against convenience to do the things we need to do to benefit our health.
Activity: Engage in physical activity, even if it’s just a 20-minute walk.
Habit 5: Read or Learn Something New
Successful people are absolutely obsessed with growing. It’s a sign of failure if they are stuck being the same people they were yesterday.
I personally believe that learning is synonymous with living. When you stop learning you stop living. You’re only existing. Make learning a part of your daily routine.
Activity: Dedicate 30 minutes a day to reading or an online course.
Habit 6: Journal Your Thoughts
Writing your thoughts is a powerful way to learn about yourself. I can tell you that when I start a journal entry, I end up writing more than I expected.
I needed to start journaling because I was collecting too many thoughts in my mind and I was bottlenecked when it came to expressing myself. Journaling help me to free my thoughts and loosen the tension that existed between my brain and my mouth.
It helped me to speak more freely with less gaps in my speech.
Activity: Reflect on your day or track your emotions in a journal.
Habit 7: Eat Mindfully and Stay Hydrated
Let me just come out and say it. Food is fuel. This is the exact affirmation I have to repeat when faced with a nutritious meal that tastes less appetizing then junk food.
Having nutritious meals gives your body the fuel that it needs to operate at Peak Performance. When you look at eating as you refilling your gas tank, you begin to choose what your body needs over what your taste buds crave.
Don’t get me wrong. I still love my fried food.
Activity: Prioritize nutritious meals and water throughout the day.
Habit 8: Practice Self-Reflection at Night
In my book, Double your productivity in 31 days, I talk about four winning in the Game of L.I.F.E. That’s an acronym for: Learn, Implement, Fail, and Evaluate. We will never meant to leave failure as the end of the process.
Some people let the failure remain as a period to the sentence. It’s really supposed to be a comma. Once you learn something you put it into practice. After you try it and fail at it, you’re supposed to go one step further and evaluate it.
Don’t let failure be the end. Reflect on it learn what you need to do next time and try again.
Activity: Spend 5 minutes reviewing what went well and what could improve.
Habit 9: Limit Screen Time Before Bed
I have to be completely honest with you. I feel like a total hypocrite telling you to prioritize sleep when sometimes I do not get a good night’s rest. Call it the workaholic in me.
I am, however, taking intentional steps to develop better sleeping habits. Ariana Huffington reminded us some years ago that sleep is actually better for us than working ourselves to a nervous breakdown.
I believe we can all agree that our bodies need to recharge. We will be better suited for the giant tasks that await us when the Sun rises.
Activity: Replace scrolling with reading or relaxation techniques.
Habit 10: Cultivate Acts of Kindness
I believe it’s all about service. I’m talking about the purpose of life. Additionally, if you were living your life just to see how far you can get for your own benefits, you’re missing it.
The entire purpose of Our Lives should be to develop to the point where we could make the biggest impact in contribution to the world. This seems like a huge intangible dream, On the other hand, cultivating acts of kindness, now that we can do today.
I tell people all the time, that one of the greatest ways to get out of a pity party or emotional meltdown, is to pick up the phone pick up your feet, and call someone or check up on someone. Helping other people helps you out of the pit.
Activity: Do one kind act daily, whether for yourself or others.
